My College Days

When I was a child when someone asked me, what would I like to be when I grow up? My answer was simple; I just wanted to be the President of the Philippines. Hehehe. Well, I guess every child or most of the children would like to be the President in their own country.

As time goes by, my dream was changing. When I was in Senior High school, I was so persistent to be an Architect someday, which same as with my cousin. I admired him as he was good in drawing. Funny was, one of my friends really like to be an Engineer. He kept asking me why I didn't like to be an Engineer? He suggested that I can take the B.S. ECE, which suits for a female like me. I thought it was kinda challenging and I didn't like that college course. Surprisingly, he became a licensed Architect while I became a licensed Engineer. I don't know how it happened. Maybe, that's our destiny. 

During my first year in college days, it was kinda thought-provoking. Even though I enrolled in Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) course, I had to enroll my 1st year in Mechanical Engineering since I was a late enrollee. (Just to give you an overview about the Engineering course in my native country, from 1st to 2nd year all the engineering subjects are the same). I was challenged because I found out that the Algebra and Trigonometry teachings were harder in Mechanical Engineering than in ECE. Thus, I decided to enroll earlier than usual, just to ensure that I got the slot in ECE classes.

During my second year, my subjects with computation/Mathematics I think were getting easier since I enrolled in ECE classes. Hehehe. I even enjoyed the non-mathematics subjects. For instance, the History, I like it but I couldn't control myself chatting with my classmates especially during the reporting/presentation period in our classes as I got bored. So I had to come out a strategy, I read my book at home in advance. It was very strategic as when my Professor caught me chatting with my classmates and I didn't listen to the presenter, she asked me questions about the reports. She was surprised I knew the answers. Hahaha. Since then, she didn't ask me questions only my classmates who were talking with me. Lol

Anyway, I am not so smart, it's just I think I am very strategic and people-oriented. I mean, those traits helped me a lot especially during in my 5th year. Initially, I joined with the BSECE school organization as a board member and eventually became the President. Being involved with this kind of organization, it helped me to improve my confidence, build new networks, and got a 100% discount at the review center. Yeah, you read it right, the only thing that I paid in the Excel Review Centre was just the registration, and I received the privileges to enroll with their usual and special coaching sessions that helped me to pass the licensure board exam. I am so grateful about this.
